Maybe this is your first car show, or you're just not quite sure what to bring to a car show at an Army flight facility. If this is you, then keep reading. If you're a seasoned car show attendee, you can probably skip this post, but who knows, you may read something you hadn't thought of before.

First, if you have a car, truck, or bike your proud of, You need to bring it! You can register online or at the gate on the day of the show. Even if you don't have a car, truck, or bike your proud of, you should probably still bring one of those three to get here. There's your first pro-tip of this blog.

However, we are having the car show on our ramp so technically I guess you could fly your plane or your helicopter in if you've got one of those. Seriously. You could actually do that. You might want to give us a call first though. ;-)

The next few things you definitely would want on hand is some protection from the sun. You can bring your own canopies, umbrellas, tents, whatever. Registered cars will have plenty of room to spread out on their pad, unlike most car shows. If you do decide to bring a canopy or something similar, you'll want to consider bringing something to weigh them down as you won't be able to stake them down on the pavement. Sunscreen is probably another good idea. We'll have shaded areas to check out vendors and the silent auction or to grab a bite to eat, but a lot of the good stuff like the live music and static displays are all outdoors. Whether you bring a canopy or not, you'll definitely want to have a lawn chair here. We'll have some limited seating, but if you want front row access to the live music, I highly suggest you have an extra chair on hand.

After that, one of the most important things you'll want on hand is a few dollars in cash, or as my dad would say, "walking money." We're pretty much a cash only operation for the most part. We'll have burgers, dogs, funnel cakes, Pepsi products, a variety of vendors, kettle corn, Maggie Moo's ice cream, and of course the silent auction. We'll also be raffling off a S&W AR-15 and Shield 9mm and a 50/50 pot raffle. So there's a lot of things you may want to take home with you and cash will probably make that a little easier for you or at least keep you from serving any jail time!

Another super important thing that you should bring with you is a friend or your family. Everyone has that one grumpy old uncle that is into cars and loves America and he needs to be here so don't forget to bring him! But the most important thing you need on the day of the car show is to be ready to have a great time. Even that grumpy old uncle will have a smile on his face after watching Kimberlie Helton perform live, eating a fried oreo, and sitting in the driver's seat of a "deuce and a half" Army the same time.

Tell your friends and we'll see you out there! September 12th at the National Guard Flight facility by the airport in Jackson (next to Sculley's Golf Course)!
