Everyone's heard of sequestration and the challenges it has posed to the military, but here at AASF #3, we're doing our best to make sure the American taxpayer still gets highly trained aviators at their service for the best deal possible.

As our beloved OH-58D is being sent to the stable for good (also due to sequestration) we are preparing ourselves to make the transition to the UH-60L Blackhawk. Since there are no simulators around for us to train on and we don't yet have any Blackhawks here at the flight facility, some of our more creative Instructor Pilots have come up with a more economic solution to help train pilots on engine starting and run-up procedures using large printouts of cockpit diagrams and foam-board.

Tell us what you think of our cool new "simulator" in the comments!
